CS 1.6 on Android with CS16Client
Android uses a mobile port workflow rather than the Windows cs16.exe installer. CS16Client is a community project, separate from Valve’s desktop release, and its own documentation determines the compatible engine and game-data setup.

Prepare all three parts
The CS16Client project currently instructs users to use the latest developer build of Xash3D FWGS, own Counter-Strike on Steam and copy the valve and cstrike folders into the engine’s game-data directory. Follow the linked project instructions when selecting releases.
| Part | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Xash3D FWGS | Engine for the port |
| CS16Client | Counter-Strike client for the mobile setup |
| Your game data | Required resources from your owned game |
Keep the file layout understandable
- Read the project’s installation notes and select the Android release it provides.
- Locate your own game data and preserve the original copy before transferring folders.
- Follow the engine’s current folder-selection and access instructions on your device.
- Check that the expected valve and cstrike directories are present without an accidental extra nesting level.
Start with controls, not add-ons
Launch a stock local map before transferring a desktop config or custom resources. Place the movement and aiming controls where your fingers can reach them without hiding important parts of the screen. Test buying, reloading and opening the menu before attempting a full match. Change a small number of controls, then repeat the same short route.
Test the device before joining others
Observe responsiveness during a longer session as well as the first minute. If performance changes, compare the same map and control layout before adding more variables. Keep your tested settings backed up before experimenting.
For multiplayer, check the port’s current compatibility notes and the intended server’s requirements. Do not assume that every desktop server or bot add-on behaves identically on this community port. Use the project’s issue tracker with your device, engine and client versions when reporting a reproducible problem.

Keep the Android route separate from Windows
An Android port requires compatible engine and client components plus the game resources expected by that port. A Windows EXE is not an Android installation package. Start with a local map, then tune touch input and readability before testing servers. Connection behaviour must be evaluated for the specific port and server rather than assumed.
Questions before you play
Can I install the Windows download directly on my phone?
No. The offered EXE is for Windows. Android requires its own compatible port and setup process, including the game data specified by that project's instructions.
